a very good day

My birthday always seems to fall sometime right in the middle of finals. But not this year. . . How many people can say they graduated on their birthday? I can. Quarter of a century, and finally a college graduate. Woohoo! It was a very good day. We enjoyed having so much family with us.
In other news: We are in Seattle for a week, enjoying some time with the fam. This will be our last trip to Seattle before the baby and before we move somewhere far away. We will have a final final decision regarding our geographic location for the next four years by May 15th. It's either Lubbock, Texas or Long Island, New York. Stay tuned.

Wanted: Blog Hacker

I have a brother in law, and he is a blog hacker. Here's the story: We like to go to Jana & Jordan's apartment. They conveniently live downstairs. We love living close to them. Usually our trips to their apartment have to do with one of these three activities: watching movies, eating food (ryan makes extra stops to get candy from their candy bowl), and using the internet. As previously mentioned, these trips occur often . . . sometimes more than once a day.
Whenever I get on my blog from their house, it somehow always stays signed in. After I leave, my brother in law enjoys making new posts to my blog for me. (See previous post). I deleted the last two - but I'll allow this one to stay just for his enjoyment.

I suppose it has served me as a good reminder that I need to update my blog. I intend to do so soon.

Bird is 26

Ryan turned 26 last week. It was a fun weekend. Friday night we went to dinner with friends and fam in Salt Lake at an authentic pizza place that Ryan loves. Then we had a delicious strawberry cake that I prepared. I was so excited to make it all week, I bought all the stuff like 2 days ahead, and searched EVERYWHERE for the perfect pans that my mom uses. The pans were no where to be found (not Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Wal-mart, Macy's and not even Williams and Sonoma), so it ended up being in a regular old 13 x 9. But I took my sweet time on friday, enjoying every minute of making the cake.

Sat we spent the night up at his parents house, went to church with the rents, and ate a delicious steak dinner which Pam prepared. My doctor told me that being pregnant I was going to crave light foods and lots of chicken. He was wrong. All I want, all the time, is red meat. I think Ryan is enjoying my desires for red meat every day even more than I am.

Anyway, here's a blog to say that I'm grateful that my dear husband was born. I love being married to him.

The Rumors are True

We are having a baby in June, and its a boy! Some members of Ryan's family discovered the surprise earlier, but the official announcement to my family (none of whom had any idea) was christmas day. I tried posting the video we took catching everyone's reaction, but couldn't get it to work. We made the announcement on the Vellinga side when we came back from Seattle.

My brother's girlfriend's mom is an ultrasound tech, so we went in after hours and found out that it was a boy at only 15 weeks. Lucky, I know. I was convinced it was a girl from day one, but Ryan had 3 dreams that it was a boy. He would always say, "Well, this will determine who receives revelation for our family."

We are very excited. Going on 17 weeks come monday, and feeling much better in general.

A Joyful Evening

My husband just called me from San Fransisco. After eating a nice dinner, paid for by someone else, he is on his way to do this:

This is me. This is what I have been doing since I arrived home from work, and what I will continue doing until I go to bed.

Take A Stroll Down Vellinga Lane

As of November 17, 2008 I have a darling new nephew. My brother Kyle and his wife Rachael had their first, the first grandchild of the Havens clan, Chase Dwaine Danger Havens. Yes, that is his real name. He is such a dangerous little baby. And he's dang cute. I haven't gotten to meet him yet, but I will very soon and I can't wait.

On another note. . .

I'm an amateur blogger. Jana came over and blogs came up. Somehow we started talking about how you can comment on blogs. Funny thing, she mentioned how she had commented on one of my blogs, and I was surprised. I had never read a single comment that anyone had made on my blog - until she told me that I had some, which was just last week. Reading the comments was so fun!

I think about blogging often, but I rarely do. And usually it is because I don't really have any new and exciting things to blog about. We pretty much go to school and do homework and work. Our lives are not extremely exciting. Sometimes we do something fun that I could blog about, but I never take pictures. I don't have a single picture from thanksgiving :( I really gotta work on that.
